Having just rediscovered my love for the song "Please Come to Boston," I had it on continuous replay this morning and was singing along with it in the kitchen, each version getting louder and more heartfelt as I reconnected with the aching poignancy of the lyrics. Now I realize that everybody in the post office below (we live in an apartment above it and the kitchen is directly above all the p.o. boxes) could hear me loud and clear as I belted it out over and over. I'll know it's bad if the postmaster starts singing "please leave old chatham" under her breath as I get the mail today.

This is happening to me more and more these days:

The name of the author is the first to go
followed obediently by the title, the plot,
the heartbreaking conclusion, the entire novel
which suddenly becomes one you have never read, never
even heard of

as if, one by one, the memories you used to harbor
decided to retire to the southern hemisphere of the brain,
to a little fishing village where are no phones.

Damn. It's pretty shameful that it's been almost 3 years since anyone posted on here!

Holy cow!

I just got fired! They actually did the "I have to walk you out of the building" thing. good god! can you say embarrassing?

When was the last time you got fired? Isn't it always from a job that you hated anyway?

I had been stressing about this F'ng job so bad. I was dreaming about it every night and thinking about it all the time. Last thing at night. First think in the morning. Hate hate hate.

The night before, I was at work until 9.30pm finishing a project. The next day about an hour before I was to review and submit it, they can me.

The really odd thing is that I worked with a friend of mine and previous coworker. From him, I have not heard a word.

I've been a pathetic anarchist these days. I have to admit it: I'm obsessed with the election. I've been reading everything about it, dreaming up potential debate answers or good come back lines on the drive to work, and becoming *incredibly* superstitious/o-c -- e.g. sitting in the same chair to watch each debate since the first one went well when I sat there. Shame, shame, shame. Such anarchist shame.
